NINA BREKELMANS MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP AT GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY

The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CCAS), in partnership with the Brekelmans family, has established the Nina Brekelmans Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund to support students of the Masters of Arts in Arab Studies (MAAS) program, particularly those with a demonstrated interest in promoting women's empowerment in the Middle East.

Nina Brekelmans graduated from the MAAS program in May, 2015. She was known as an intelligent, gracious, warm, and caring young woman. While at CCAS, Nina was involved in countless community activities, and she touched the lives of many individuals on and off campus. Nina was also loved and cherished by many in the Middle East, having lived in both Jordan and Egypt. The endowed scholarship fund will honor Nina's memory and accomplishments by supporting MAAS students who demonstrate an interest in women's empowerment, an issue that was very dear to Nina.

As of March 2016, the endowment fundraising goal has been fully meT

Thank you to all who contributed and made this possible. In particular, thank you to the Cooper Standard Foundation for their overwhelming support of the cause.
